Another Prager bulls-eye

His column today on why the boomer generation owes America’s current crop of youth an apology.  Money line: “We made you anti-war and almost completely sexualized your lives.”

Hey come on booby, here’s some pied pipers and they showed us where to go:

    Sanger (b. 1879), Leary (b. 1920), Alpert/Das (b. 1931), Kerouac (b. 1922), Ginzburg (R.) (b. 1929), Ginsberg (A.) (b. 1925), Ghandi (b. 1869), MLK (b. 1929), Charlie Parker (b. 1920), Mead (b. 1901)– a champion of broadened sexual mores within a context of traditional western religious life, Lennon (b.1940), Spock (B) (b. 1903), Koop (b. 1916), Kinsey (b. 1894), Masters (b. 1950), Johnson (b.1925). Weil (b.1942), Piaget (b. 1896), Freud (b. 1856), Friedan (b. 1921), Greer (b. 1939), Brownmiller (b. 1935), Miller (H) (b. 1891)and, for leaving and giving us peace, Jesus (b. 33 AD).

Examples of physically and mentally weak boomers pending. We did not have to look far to realize war is hell. It was on the tellie and we mostly heard about it from our daddies. Interesting inflammatory article though, not all of which is false, because I, the only one I can truly control, did not raise my children so, but I openly smoked tobacco and that other funny looking weed without shame, and, truly, shame on me for that, but daddie and mummie did the one still legal here, the one that does the most damage. So did gramma and gramps. They liked their booze too.

    ” . . . not all of which is false . . . ” You’re a stitch.

  3. Junior Dings Says:

what, is that guy a member of bush’s inner circle? fuck war and fuck that guy, he is full of shit and feeling sorry for himself. i get so tired of people preaching abstinence and war over sex and love. a mere 3 generations ago, it was acceptable for girls to marry at 13. but now because society has “advanced” so much over the last 100 years, certain people want to just eliminate sexual desire at its first and most exciting uprising within the human spirit. i think that sucks. . well guess what, that isn’t going to happen. they’ll never be able to suppress those feelings in a human and i’m glad for it. these people want to judge and teach wrong, no no no, instead of explaining and embracing something great and natural and teaching safety and responsibility. they want to suppress and guilt you into thinking your natural state is bad and i think that is a horrible thing. i will take that apology, however, you dirty boomer!

Hmm, time to have another talk with the father of my grandkids. I got him down from atheism to agnosticism though.

  5. Mr. Dings Says:

You caught me, but junior did write that, what’s with the no caps? I didn’t teach him that either.

    Junior Dings:

So I guess you’re okay with the way divorce and illegitimacy rates have shyrocketed in the past fifty years?

Three generations ago in what country and demographic was this marriage to 13 year olds acceptable? Was it so widespread as to be a fairly common age of marriage across the board in America?

How about the idea that thirteen year olds should neither marry nor have non-marital sex? Would you be cool with that?

Do you really see nothing wrong with the hook-up culture perpetuated by MTV?

Just a word of advice from someone who has spent some time in the polemical trenches: it boosts one’s crediblility to steer clear of the four-letter words in formulating one’s position.

Oh, and one more thing. Just what was it that ended the Nazi threat in Europe in the 1940s, and ended slavery in the United States in the 1860s?

  7. Bentnotesmanhisself Says:

Something else you said that has me rather curious: what made you start off with wondering if “that guy” (noted essayist and talk-show host - and othodox Jewish theologian - Dennis Prager) is a member of “Bush’s inner circle?”
I don’t think so. He may have met the president, but I’m pretty sure they’re not in regular contact.
But I’m curious; what is it about what Prager is discussing here that immediately brought W to mind for you?

  8. Mr. Dings Says:

I already spanked him too. I raised him better than that, well, a bit. I go with the just war theory, can’t speak for him. I posted that response from him to me in an Email without his permission, not that he would care. It sparked several Emails back and forth.

  9. Mr. Dings Says:

I bet if you ask around it will be a hot day in December around these parts to find someone who knows the name Dennis Prager and who can figure out that the bloggie is a Hasidic jew.

  10. Bentnotesmanhisself Says:

And that’s sad, because there is no cultural observer writing today who brings a keener intellect or a more God-inclined heart to his work.

  11. Mr. Dings Says:

Jehovah inclined? I think his views on war, well, simply suck.
