Wanna come over and listen to my Ricky Nelson boxed set? Friends and family think I’m entering my dotage, but I love his stuff. Can’t put that guitar into words. Better than Elvis! Roy was a greater one too, if I have to prioritize. Stay young!

I’m putting a bunch of cool videos and article links on my IU Oncourse site for my rock-history course. I don’t get the sense that any of my students thus far understand how cool this stuff is, what great cultural-understanding resources I’m providing them. At class each week, I’ll say stuff like “Did everybody see the trailer for ‘High School Confidential?’” and I get blank stares.
