Time is short. Get a clue.
The Other McCain says that these dwindling hours before Super Tuesday are the time to look at whether the choice before American citizens in November is going to be between the ultimate Reasonable Gentleman – who is proud to be one and loves to stick it in the eye of conservatives whenever he gets a chance – and a terrifyingly dangerous Freedom-Hater.
It doesn’t have to be this way. For some reason, the best choices are getting tossed aside with every point in this process, but there’s still time to avoid looking the most disastrous choice any American has ever seen.

No, the most disastrous choice was the last presidential election. Hey, he’s in bed with Israel-sucker Lieberman. I should think you’d be doing cartwheels over that.

And he is a hawk on Iraq. We sure don’t get you neo-cons. I listen to Rush too, for about as long as i can stand him, but long enough to hear his rants on McCain too.

Well, you do find folks who are fairly clear thinkers who say the current world war trumps all and that’s why they’re going with McCain. Heard Dennis Miller say as much on his radio show the other day. He said, “All the other issues pale in comparison to the need to kill the bad guys.”
Think about the specific legislation on which McCain partnered up with Lieberman. It was a Kyoto-lite effort to address “global warming.” Both of them should know better.
And if that were his only glaring shortcoming, it might be something we neocons could swallow, but the list is very long.

I would not ordinarily vote for a man (or woman) who is hawkish on the way, but, since the idiots in the Bush administration got us into it, we must accomplish our mission and then finish up in Afghanistan and Pakistan, trying to stay out of combat (mostly bombing, how special!) in other areas of the middle east and going toe to toe with China, Russia Resurgent, hothead idiot regimes south of the border, etc. As for Israel, well, we’ve backed her this far, it’s the honorable thing to do to stay the course there. Delicate balancing acts are what are needed here. Global warming is a big big issue for a substantial portion of the world’s populace. The science is not clear, but there’s something happening here, if only exhibited by the mass extinction of species. We can work it out. And, yes, that does require reasonable ladies and gentlemen. Grown-ups becoming as little children when they can.

And can’t we come up with more palatable phrases than “kill the bad guys.” That is oh so Rummy. Hell’s bells, we already killed a lot of somebodies, at least 600,000 of them. A creator who knows and sees all has been postulated throughout human time. But, oh what disputation.
