Those wacky Seattle greens prove once and for all that human life is way down their list of concerns

In that city, you see, they refuse to use salt on their snow-and-ice-covered roads.  The result?  Lots of crashes.  File under “well, duh.”

This is the same mentality that spurred climate expert Sheryl Crow to admonish us all to use one square of TP to adminster hygiene after a trip to the water closet.  It doesn’t achieve the needed result by any means, but, by Source Energy, Mother Gaia is unsullied.

Mass numbers of grown adults signing on to sheer idiocy.  That’s how we get soiled trou, smashed-up cars, and a Marxist president.

The pope weighs in. Take your pick.

Pope Benedict XVI spoke out Monday against homosexual behavior, calling it a violation of the natural order. In an address to the Vatican hierarchy, the pope called for an “ecology of man” to protect man from “the destruction of himself.” He added, “The rain forests deserve our protection, but man as a creature indeed deserves no less.” The Vatican opposes same-sex marriage and considers homosexual acts sinful.

One square of TP. When you P or what?

Whooee. We be gittin’ into some thorny territory here. I do happen to dig the Pope’s basic thrust regarding human sexuality and its relationship to human spiritual health.
That said, such issues as homosexuality, premarital imtimacy, pornographic stimulation and abortion get all mixed up with some stuff that this spiritual quester finds just downright goofy. I’m primarily speaking of creationism.
Interesting to see your comment at this particular moment. I just fired off to my sister a link to a recent (as in this evening) Little Green Footballs post about how Rick Warren’s Saddleback Church has quite suddenly scrubbed the creationist content from the “what-we-believe” page of its website.
I’m no master theologian – Hell, I’m not even sure if I should call myself a Christian – but I believe you gotta take the plainly sensible evidence for stuff in front of your own eyes into account. And, to put it delicately for this family environment, it’s obvious that dicks and vaginas were designed to fit together. Furthermore, any biologist worth his salt will tell you that you don’t find the various species of spiders and foxes and shrimp and parakeets engaging in buggery.
It’s also obvious that the various species of organisms – some umpteen gazillion of them existing right now, and some further umpteen gazillion that are now gone but that once were around – did not come on board on some sixth twenty-four-hour period in which this primate mammal called homo sapiens also appeared.

To put the whole matter succinctly, let’s try to make some sense here, shall we?

To respond to your second post, no, what the gal who just wants to have some fun until the sun comes up over Santa Monica Boulevard intends is that one square is all you get for keeping your primal crevice free of unsavory smears of brown.

Does the Dalai meditate and the Pope pray? Why not do both?

Back to the original idea here, isn’t the resurgence of malaria a direct result of the banning of DDT, because it hurt or killed some birds? Now disease carrying mosquitos abound, killing human beings. Just another example of screwy priorities.

Exactly, NQS. Another great example of how green hysteria actually works to humankind’s detriment.

Wiki’s great. They are seeking donations. Give today (if you have any left), or is there some hidden socialist agenda there?:

“The evolution of resistance to DDT in mosquitos has greatly reduced its effectiveness in many parts of the world, and current WHO guidelines require that before the chemical is used in an area, susceptibility of local mosquitos to DDT must be confirmed. The appearance of DDT-resistance is largely due to its use in agriculture, where it was used in much greater amounts than the relatively small quantities used for disease prevention. According to one study that attempted to quantify the lives saved by banning agricultural uses of DDT and thereby slowing the spread of resistance, “it can be estimated that at current rates each kilo of insecticide added to the environment will generate 105 new cases of malaria.”
