“Even if we get everything right there’s still a 30 percent chance we’re going to get it wrong”

Jeez, Joe, you sure know how to quell the nation’s jitters.

That hope-instead-of-fear meme didn’t last till the water got hot.

That is a realistic assessment to me who thinks nobody knows how to fix this thing. Even not fixing it is disaster too. Aint no doubt though, who left this mess on all our plates.

That’s true. We do know who left it to us: Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, and all the politicians back there in the Jimmuh era that gave us the Community Reinvestment Act.

But back to the present, I just can’t get over Joe’s demeanor of steady, principled leadership. Yessirreee.

Many causes have been postulated, including the Graham-Leach-Bailey (Repubbies all) bill passed in the 11th hour before a Congressional Christmas recess in 1999 but signed by Clinton. It deregulated the financial services industry and enabled loans to be made without oversight. Sen. Joe Biden (D-Del.) voted with 89 others to repeal the regulations. Ironically, Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) — who is now leading House negotiations over the bailout as chairman of the House Financial Services Committee — voted to keep the regulations in place. The brutal truth is that here we are, after a two term Repubby prexy. And you still heat up over the very very recent present where remedies are pondered. Looks like a modified bail-out bill will now pass the Senate with some Repubby support.
