We knew this gang was sinister, but it’s still weird to watch their evil unfold in real time

The FHer promise to let America have 48 hours to study its gazillion-page, gazillion-dollar “stimulus” package?  A big bag of hooey.  A big lie.  A railroad job.

    Noone likes people who break their promises. Not good, not good at all.

    Tally as of today so far, at least according to one voice in the dying print media:

    The Obameter Scorecard

    * Promise Kept 7

    * Compromise 1

    * Promise Broken 1

    * Stalled 1

    * In the Works 22

    * No Action 478

    TCM is one guy whose kept promises are scary as hell. I’d rather hear that he’d been jiving us all along with the freedom-hatred bit.

    The American people voted him in on his promises I hope. If he keeps breaking them, it ain’t gonna be pretty, but we’ll likely hear, as we did during the election that, “well, they all do that.” Honest Abe is his idol, no? I’ll dig for some dirt on Lincoln too. It would be nice to have a tally of his broken promises to present to O. Me, promises, promises, I’m all through with promises promises now.

    For now, more on the “They All Do That” front:

    The Lies of George W. Bush: Mastering the Politics of Deception by David Corn

    “One of the oddest aspects of the Bush presidency has been how reluctant journalists are to report that Bush lies. Reporters who jumped on Bill Clinton for disingenuous hair-splitting and piled on Al Gore for harmless exaggerations have given George W. Bush pass after pass after pass. No longer. Veteran journalist David Corn has collected all the glaring evidence. With flair, he skewers Bush and shows—beyond question—that the fellow inthe White House has manhandled the truth about Iraq, the war on terrorism, tax cuts, global warming, stem cells, and other crucial issues, as well as his own past. Here are the lies you remember and the lies you don’t. Get ready to get mad. Corn has cut through the spin and crafted an important and powerful challenge to Bush and his crew.” —Molly Ivins, coauthor of Shrub and Bushwhacked

    David Corn and Molly Ivins are absolutley insane.

    Let’s think about this term, “lying.” One lies when one has a motive for one’s course of action other than what the other party perceives his motive to be.

    Okay, now, W pursued the course of action he did regarding:

    Iraq – because of Saddam’s track record and the intelligence reports from all over the world that also had lots of big-time Dems alarmed

    the war on terrorism – because we got hit in New York and Washington on Sept. 11. 2001 with an attack that, gone unaddressed, would have been followed by more and would have sent a signal to all kinds of parties that we were vulnerable

    stem cells – because you don’t need to kill people to get the benefits of stem cell research, that is, you can use adult cells

    The “his own past” thing has been pretty well gone over. He didn’t have the most substantive record of accomplishment in the world prior to getting elected governor of Texas, but he was a pretty good guy.

    I forgot to pull together the above itemized areas of accusation into my question for Corn / Ivins / you: If these weren’t W’s actual motives, what were they?those motives?
