Demagoguery and moral preening can bring you bad karma

San Fran Nan’s sticking to her “I’ve-never-had-anything-to-do-with-that-icky-waterboarding-stuff” narrative even if it means desperately sputtering at a press conference.

Pass the popcorn.  This is going to get good.

Not a San Fran Nan fan, who is, but this is all as diaphanous as popcorn. Not a big deal at all. Not that some aren’t making it so. Bigger than Watergate? So goes the hype.

Leon Panetta’s memo to CIA employees would indicate that all is not well in Nan-land. Directly disputes her on the matter of his agency deliberately misleading anybody in Congress, even before his watch.

Why don’t they just pull the transcript?

Former Fla Sen. Bob Graham, past chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committe:

“I’m not impressed with the credibility of the CIA as it was being led in 2002. I think it had become an agency that instead of following the admonition to speak truth to power, it was trying to speak what it thought power wanted to hear.”

We need to forget the past and move on. This is another stupid diversion, but that is to be expected, given politics American style.

Well, not exactly. The essential question here is whether we have the will to do what is necessary to get the informatin we need to prevent catastrophic attacks against us.
