To be fair, here's an article appearing in today's Star about Lilly:
http://www.indystar.com/article/20090625/BUSINESS03/906250375/Lilly+touts+its+value+to+Indiana+as+health-care+debate+heats+up

A study commissioned by Lilly and issued today by Indiana University offers the latest look at the company's economic footprint. It concludes that Lilly contributed $8.03 billion, or approximately 3.3 percent, to Indiana's gross state product in 2007.

As I said, they have been berry berry goot to Indianapolis.

Merely another instance in a long line of "possible" questionable behavior by this set of "big boys," but, ahh, yes, I recognize that Eli Lilly been verry goot to Indianapolis.
http://www.ghchealth.com/pitching-prozac.html

60 Minutes wanted to ask Eli Lilly how patients were targeted for the Prozac Weekly mailing, but the company wouldn't talk to us.

Don't expect to find out anything at Lilly's website.

Looks like there are no FDA rules covering this at present. Perhaps some are needed.
Sounds like a specific instance of possible questionable ethical behavior that needs to be addressed appropriately.
One of the first questions that occurs to me is, who were teh ghostwriters? Just some hacks off the street? That seems unlikely, given the huge amount of attention from consumers, medical practices, hospitals, insurance companies and the government to a drug company's activities.
One thing you have to remember is that, except in cases of out-and-out blatant immoral behavior, motivated by such a zeal for short-term gain that one's ability to consider long-term implications is short-circuited, businesses find it in their interest to conduct operations ethically.
Couldn't find anything about this on the Lilly website.

Either Obama is a wizard, or there's something in it for them. Do ya think Eli Lilly really did this:

Drugmakers’ use of ghostwriters has created “a huge body of medical literature that society can’t trust,” said Carl Elliott, a University of Minnesota bioethicist who has written about the practice.

Ahh, but we can trust the invisible hand.
