To the pinnacle, but no ring
The Colts can be proud of their season, even though they clearly wish some things had gone differently last night. The writing was on the wall when Tracy Porter ran 74 yards on that interception with the Saints six points up and about five minutes left in the game.

Mr. Dings does not like this. Onto trash talk. Reproduced here, however, is a piece he wrote upon visiting NO after the flood, how partially prescient, keep hope alive always….
The Big Easy: 8/28/06
You’d expect 4 seasons might have
Somethings to show for themselves and
Thus they do: A Super Dome with
Bandaged pate,
Megabucks pass through hands
Beyond a wild brackish yonder.
Hell held center court here.
Her painted face hopes
Saints come marching in again,
Some Super Sunday.
Onward tread tens of thousands on
Trials of tears,
Some sleeping still, finally.
Feel Every Man’s Agony.
Finger pointing
In your faces,
Where have you gone Pistol Pete,
Your heart may ache in
Some Heaven high and dry,
Your passing so easy
In compare
Is Son on cross above a
Waterline 6 feet up on a
Church facade?
No more within, still
Some without the
Ghosts of
Crime is down substantially
Here, whole
Plazas stilled their tills,
Yet fortunes flowed
When levees dealt a
Losing hand, will
Our Father’s house
Rebuild someday?
The children laugh and
Run and play,
Somehow, sometime, right here
That day, that blessed hopeful day.

Way back in the late 1600s when the first explorers planted King Louis’s flag there between Lake Ponchartrain and the Mississippi River, they surely would have been better advised to find a little higher ground for doing so.
