About
I did this blog because I needed a place where I could wax wonkish as I was moved to do so. If you’ve arrived here by way of my main site and have poked around there, you know a little about where I am on the societal radar screen (which, some would say, is just below it!). If you got here by some other route, let me orient you by saying that a number of my viewpoints make me an anomaly me in both my musician-arts journalist life and my observer-of-the-world-stage life. The short version of all this is I value freedom more highly than just about anything else, but I assert that the underpinnings of Western civilization are the best guarantors of that freedom.
Maybe this helps: I am a jazz and blues guitarist with a master’s degree in American history. My heroes include Wes Montgomery and Whittaker Chambers.
